As Christians celebrate the end of the Lenten season with the culmination on Easter Sunday, two Dublin churches will host their Crosswalk procession on Good Friday, March 29.
Annually, the New Hope Church and Dublin Community Church congregations take part in a procession through Dublin to signify Jesus Christ’s journey to the cross.
This year, there will be a new route: Participants will start at the East Plaza in Riverside Crossing Park, cross The Dublin Link bridge, head south on North High Street and then west on West Bridge Street. They will end at Dublin Community Church.
One lane of traffic will be closed from approximately noon to 12:30 p.m. Dublin Police officers will escort the participants.
Easter is the culmination of the 40-day Lenten season as well as Holy Week. During that time, Christians remember Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem, Christ’s betrayal, the Last Supper and crucifixion. Easter Sunday celebrates renewal, which can be seen throughout our springtime foliage, based on Christ’s resurrection.
